Membership Meetings
Share ideas and information with fellow builders and associates at your local HBA’s monthly meetings. Educational Programs
The North Carolina Builder Institute is the educational arm for the NCHBA. The Institute provides year –round classes for the professional builder and associate. Earn accredited designations that are recognized state wide while increasing your knowledge and earning additional credibility in your field. At NCHBA’s summer convention, builders and associate members can find a variety of general interest seminars, including topics such as OSHA Regulations and building codes. The new 21st Century Building Expo Conference offers members the opportunity to view new and innovative products for housing and to attend seminars on various aspects of the building industry. Seminars highlight a wide range of topics which would appeal to the builder, associate, remodeler and the sales and marketing professional.

 

National Discounts

Vocational Education
New professional skilled tradesmen are the life and blood of our industry. Through different programs members encourage our local youth to consider careers in the construction trades. HBA of NENC offers assistance to community colleges, technical institutes and other training facilities in structuring and promoting related vocational programs.

Whether you are interested in building codes, disaster relief, sales and marketing or community services, your association teams you with others having similar interests. The HBA of NENC works with the state and National Associations in promoting “Green Building”. We offer educational opportunities to our members throughout the year in an effort to insure that you are up-to-date and competitive with the latest energy efficient and economically friendly methods of building and remodeling. We also offer a handy directory through the NAHB Research Center that allows prospective homebuyers, renters, or remodeling customers to locate builders who are green certified through the National Green Building Certification Program.                                                      Educational Opportunities & Information
  

The one constant in the home building industry is change. New products, changing technology, and evolving legal and building code laws are just a few of the industry's elements that require constant vigilance and training.

To assist home builders and other industry professionals to stay on the cutting edge, the North Carolina Home Builders Association developed the North Carolina Builder Institute (NCBI). The NCBI serves as the educational arm of the association and oversees all of its educational programs. The Institute brings together the industry's leading experts to create a dynamic and exciting learning environment.

Anytime you take a Builders University class at your local HBA, you can earn North Carolina Builder Institute (NCBI) credit, too. Credit applies toward AA and AB designations.

Don’t miss the opportunity to invest in your future by obtaining a professional designation or simply taking courses to increase your knowledge. You can choose from over 50 courses in the 9 different tracks to build an educational experience to meet your specific needs.

Accredited Builder (AB)- An Accredited Builder designation is recognized statewide and identifies top professionals in the building industry. Accredited Builder graduates complete an intensive series of seventy-two hours of course work, during which they learn about the newest trends and technology in the building industry. Participants also have the opportunity to collaborate with fellow builders on solutions to many everyday problems encountered in the industry. To keep their designation current, graduates must complete an additional eight hours each year.

Accredited Master Builder (AMB)- An Accredited Master Builder designation is recognized statewide and identifies with the top professionals in the building industry. The Accredited Master Builder program is an extension to the Accredited Builder program where members must complete forty additional hours upon completion of the Accredited Builder designation. To keep their designation current, graduates must complete an additional eight hours each year.

Accredited Associate (AA)- An Accredited Association designation is recognized statewide and identifies with the top professionals in the building industry. Accredited Associate graduates complete an intensive series of forty-eight hours of course work, during which they learn valuable knowledge about the home building industry and can collaborate with fellow students on solutions to common everyday problems. Participants have the chance to take advantage of a great net-working experience and build relationships with potential clients. To keep their designation current, graduates must complete an additional eight hours each year.

College Scholarships

The North Carolina Home Builders Educational & Charitable Foundation, Inc. is now accepting nominations and applications for its college scholarships. The foundation awards scholarships based on a combination of need and merit to four-year college students entering their junior or senior year and technical school students entering their second year who have declared their major in a construction related field.

To be eligible a student must meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be nominated by a NCHBA member firm.
  • Nominees shall be immediate family members - related by blood, (i.e. children, step-children or grandchildren). Students related by marriage, (ie. son-in-law, daughter-in-law, etc.) shall not be eligible.
  • Immediate family members of any current trustee of the NCHB Educational & Charitable Foundation, Inc. shall not be eligible.
  • Awards are for one year, but scholarship winners may submit a renewal application and be considered for renewal if they make satisfactory progress in their studies.
  • Only full-time students will be considered. NCHBA defines a full-time student as one taking a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.

About Build Pac

The Political Action Committee of the North Carolina Home Builders Association is a non-partisan committee organized for the specific purpose of raising funds to support pro-housing candidates of all parties at the state and local levels of government.
